A successful day, sun was shining and fun was had by all. Look forward to seeing everyone at the next event in May.

Autumn is upon us, although we are having some rather surprising pleasant mild weather. We’ve had a great summer haven’t we, such a difference from the wash out summer of last year! Some changes to report on the yard, our long standing livery Sharon and her horse Lemons have moved out of the area which is sad for us as she was one of the first to arrive with us here. We all wish her well for the future and ask to please keep in touch. With the clocks changing in a few weeks time we’ll be bringing the horses in to start the winter routine, i.e. stables at night, sand paddocks by day and that always gives me the feeling that Christmas is just round the corner! We have scheduled another dressage and show jumping day in on 3rd November, see Events for further details. It will be our last event this year as we batten down the hatches till after the winter weather. I’ll write again soon with more news. Take care all!
We held our dressage and show jumping day on Sunday 3rd November. We had a great turnout, despite the torrential downpours – a particular well done to Laura who did her Prelim test in the hail storm! All horses behaved well throughout the dressage and jumping. Polly once again stormed to victory in the Chase-Me-Charlie, jumping clear over 3ft 6″ – what a pony! Thanks to mum for providing the winter warming soup and cakes, and to Anna for judging and Alex for writing. We’ll probably go quiet now till we get past the worst of the winter and then put on another spring dressage series in Feb or March. Keep you posted! Hope everyone has a great Christmas! Ruth x
Well, its been a while since our last bit of news! Thought I’d write a quick update on what’s been going on on the yard. A couple of liveries have come and gone. We saw Andrea and Connie fly out to Sydney last year, both seem to be doing great out in the sun and we are all very jealous! We have seen the arrival of Becky with Dom (who was then sold and replaced with Tom), and Lesley and family who have returned to us with Shaman. Glad to have them all on board. We held a spring dressage series earlier this year which was well attended. Well done to Elin, Laura and Morgan who were Champions in their respective classes! We will be holding a jumping event in July and more dressage in the months to come. Watch the events page for dates and details. I’ll try and be a bit more regular with the updates. Will write soon, Ruth! x
The sun shone on the dog show attendees. There was a really good turn out with lots of amazing looking pooches! It was a great day with a few hundred pounds made for Cancer Research. Thank you for all those that came, to the judges and people that set up stands and to the dogs who all behaved themselves impeccably well!
Well surprise surprise, another show day dawned and yet again we were met with grey skies but we at Banwell Equestrian Centre are hardened to the weather and are firm believers in the motto ‘the show will go on’! Would be nice to run one show where the sun does actually shine though!Despite the weather, we had a good turnout for all the classes. We are getting some regular attendees to our events and our thanks go to these supporters. We try to keep all our events professional but friendly and this seems to come across from the comments we receive. I think mum’s homemade cakes definitely help with this!
Thanks again to all our helpers and judges, family and friends who all pitched in to make the show run so well. Same again next year!
Yet another successful show – the rain stayed away although the grey clouds did persist in hanging around! The showing classes were very popular this year with still a good turnout for the dressage and show jumping classes. Everyone made a fantastic effort in making themselves and horses look very smart.
Big thanks to all those that helped, to next door for letting us use their ‘patch’, to family and friends who all pitched in and thanks to all the judges and their helpers. NRH Photography covered the show this year, they took some fantastic shots and we hope they’ll return next year. If you wish to purchase a photo, please log on to www.nrhphotography.co.uk for details.
Hope everyone will come back again next year! All will go quiet from us for a little while as I will be having my baby girl in August. Keep an eye out on the website in the new year for new events.
Why is it that after 2 weeks of gorgeous sunshine, soon as we put on an event we get rain and tempests??? However, the show went on and everyone turned up despite the weather. We relaxed a bit on the posh clothing so people didn’t have to get too wet. Everyone did really well considering the wind getting up the horses tails causing disruption to some!
Everyone had a good experience with everyone encouraging everyone else. Thanks to those that came and supported the riders too, always good to see you. Big thanks to Celia Lewis for giving up her time to judge and to Sarah Davies again for writing, I hope mums carrot cake will encourage you to do the same again! Thanks to mum for her cooking skills supplying us with tea and coffee, homemade cakes and wraps and for all her hard work in the background – couldn’t do without you mum!
Our next event will be the summer show on 18 July – look out for schedules in the local tack and feed shops. Details will also be on our website – lets hope we get some good weather this year!
WET is certainly one word I’d describe the day as!!! The rain came down in sheets but fair play, everyone who’d entered turned up to brave the tempest! Mum provided tea and coffee and hot soup and those that could, huddled under the gazebo to shelter from the rain. Fortunately we had enough spaces in the barn for the horses to get out of the rain too.
Luckily the rain stopped for the jumping, although there was the addition of the natural water jump! Well done to everyone, hope you enjoyed the day, there are some good photos in the gallery. We hope to hold another combined training day Jan/Feb time so keep an eye out on the events calendar. A big thanks to Anna Gallie for judging and Sarah for doing the writing!
Not quite the same weather as last year unfortunately, we awoke to grey clouds and drizzle which stayed with us for most of the show though we did manage to finish and clear up before the heavens opened upon us! Well done to everyone who still made it though, we must’ve had twice the amount of people as last year!
We ran the classes slightly differently this year to avoid too much hanging around. All classes started in the morning, we had 2 dressage arenas on the go, a separate showing ring and all the jumping was held in the all weather arena.
The show ran smoothly with the great co-ordination of Marie stewarding the dressage (with the assisstance of Rebecca calling the tests for those that wanted it – have you found your voice yet Bec?), Lynn on secretarial duties, Matt on adding up the dressage scores (now to be known as Carol Vordernan), Duncan and John on food and mum, and my Auntie Nod on cooking – what a team! Unfortunately, as Steve was so busy on the tannoy and running backwards and forwards he didn’t get chance to take any photos this year. Next year we’ll get a professional photographer to do the honours for us. A big big thanks to our showing and dressage judges who did a sterling job in the rain, I’m afraid I will be calling you in the future for more judging!
So well done to all that came to the show to make it another great success and here’s to next year and more of the same!
Best wishes, Ruth and Steve.
